DEVLIN MAKES SUBMISSION ON THE DUBLIN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PLAN:

COUNCILLOR DEVLIN VOTES AGAINST CLAMPING IN THE COUNTY:

Councillor Devlin voted against the clamping proposal by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Cormac reminded Management that "it is elected representatives that make the decisions....not Management". He is critical of his fellow Councillors (particularly the Green Party) who voted in-favour of clamping. Read More.

COUNCIL TO COVER OVER DART LINE ALONG THE SEAFRONT IN DÚN LAOGHAIRE:

Councillor Devlin (following on from his 2005 motion) has welcomed the announcement by the Council to cover over the DART line at the Pavilion Complex (Queens Road), Dún Laoghaire. Read more.

DEVLIN WELCOMES EU-WIDE BAN ON DOG & CAT FUR

Dun Laoghaire based Councillor and ISPCA member; Cormac Devlin has welcomed the news that no goods sold or imported into the European Union will contain fur from dogs and cats. Read more.

DEVLIN WELCOMES REDUCTION IN ROAMING CHARGES BY EU FROM 1st JULY:

Councillor Devlin Starting from July 1st, the cost of making a call, sending a text or data while roaming within the EU will fall dramatically thanks to the decision by MEP's this week. All calls,  texts and data service costs will be reduced from 28c to just 11c. Read more.

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL FUNDING OF €335K FOR THE MARITIME MUSUEM:

Local Councillor, Cormac Devlin welcomed the announcement by the Government that an additional grant of €350,000 was awarded for the on-going restoration works at the Maritime Museum, Haigh Terrace, Dún Laoghaire. The Government previously gave a grant totaling €3,400,000 which enabled the Board of the Museum begin the refurbishment of the old Church. It is hoped that the new and improved Museum will be open to the public by May 2010. It will hopefully return to acting as a magnet for tourists visiting Dún Laoghaire Town and add to the fine list of other wonderful tourist attractions in our coast town (Joyce's Tower/Museum, Killiney/Dalkey Hill, Deansgrange Cemetery, to name but a few).

DEVLIN PROPOSES DÚN LAOGHAIRE LANE-WAY SCHEME:

Councillor Devlin at an Area Committee meeting proposed that the lane-ways (that run parallel to Georges Street) are re-surfaced, re-designed, lit and turned into proper pedestrian walkways. "These lanes at present are nothing but locations for anti-social behavior, now with this proposal, once up-graded we can encourage shoppers and visitors alike to use these laneways. The proposal is due to go out to public consultation in the next few weeks.
