RED LIGHT RUNNING
AT ROCHESTOWN AVENUE
TRAFFIC LIGHTS
RAISED BY CLLR. DEVLIN
March 2007
Councillor Devlin raised the issue of motorists running the red light outside of the Garda Station on Rochestown Avenue causing safety concerns for local residents particularly when they are driving out of their driveways or housing estates.
Question:Councillor Cormac Devlin
To ask the Manager to review the traffic lights at the junction of Pottery Road with Rochestown Avenue as several cars are consistently running these lights when they are red causing serious safety concerns for residents and pedestrians in the area?
Reply:
Signal timings currently in place at this junction give equal priority to traffic on Rochestown Avenue and on Pottery Road. Recent developments in the area, such as Lidl and Pfizers, may require that the signal timings be altered to suit. It is proposed to schedule a traffic count to determine if traffic patterns have altered. It should be noted that red light infringement is a matter for the Gardai to deal with, as they are the traffic authority.
